SOUMAS HERITAGE CREOLE COOKBOOKMISSION STATEMENT
I am committed to preserving my family’s history as well as Louisiana’s many contributions from African slavery from the many French and Irish owned plantations, which produced most of the Creole culture and heritage in Louisiana. I have accomplished this by developing a business that respects the many myths and remembrances of my ancestral background in Louisiana’s history past and present.
I strive to offer products, gifts and services, which accurately focus on the Creole culture of Louisiana as well as throughout my family history. Though Soumas Heritage Creole Creations is accessible to anyone abroad, I hope my business concept retains a local spicy flavor of “originality”, without using the much already marketed images and perceptions of Louisiana’s Creole culture.
In choosing this Creole cookbook as a medium to share historical heirlooms, stories and traditional and creative Creole recipes with additions of expressions. I believe in the constitutional rights for ALL citizens of the United States. I do not believe in discrimination of ANY kind, thus I do not believe that those persons that disagree with any of the historical written expressions in this cookbook should be denied their constitutional rights to view and express differently.
Although I acknowledge the paradox, I hope that I have retained a rich heritage by placing a part of it in this Creole cookbook on a respectable and humble platform that allows me to participate and respect a bitter-sweet era of history. Productively I hope this will allow individuals to embrace, learn, and still overcome the many differences and unite as a culture with pride. Thank You!
A Respectful Thanks!
Panderina D. Soumas
